2005 : Daniel Stetson - President
July - Daniel Stetson appointed President of the organization.
Mr. Stetson first arrived at the Ocean Institute in 1992, serving as the Director of Maritime Affairs. He played an integral role in the Institute's leadership ever since, and was recently named President and CEO, a role he will assume effective July 1. The Institute was much smaller when he began, but steady growth has led to where it is today: state-of-the-art educational facilities, three ships and a dedicated, professional staff that works long hours to achieve the Institute's goal, ocean preservation through education. Dan has a BA in English from UC Santa Barbara and a MBA from Cal State Fullerton. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserve from 1971 to 1978.
