Junior Neptune's Session A
Age: 6-8

Have you ever held a hermit crab in the palm of your hand? Have you ever stood under a whale skeleton? Join us as we explore the depths of the sea and meet marine critters, from the crabs of the tidepools to the giant whales of the open ocean, directed by the books One Small Place by the Sea and The Snail and the Whale. Your child will explore fact and fiction in the ocean as she or he joins in experiments in our labs and discovers animals in the tidepools with a walk into the Dana Point Marine Protected Area.
 Junior Neptune's Session B

Discover what life is like underwater as you meet "Big Al" the Fish, from the popular children's book "Big Al," interact with the animals in our lab, and conduct investigations in underwater adaptations. Your child will also have the opportunity to venture out on the ocean aboard the R/V Sea Explorer, first exploring the harbor and then taking a brief trip outside to view the local sea lions.
Junior Oceanographer
Age: 9-12

What is it like to be a marine scientist? Step into their fascinating world by exploring the principles of marine biology and oceanography. Your fun-filled day includes a two-hour Marine Wildlife cruise on the R/V Sea Explorer, a tidepool walk, and hands-on laboratory activities, including a fish dissection. This exciting experience will spark your curiosity as you dive into the magical marine world!
Junior Seahawks
Age: 9-12
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Set a course for adventure as you discover the life of a tallship sailor during the golden age of sail. Travel back in time with our cast of characters as you raise sail, race long boats, explore a sea cave, experience the lost arts of a sailor, go up the mast in a boatswain's chair and perhaps encounter a pirate or two. The day is filled with fun and excitement aboard the tallship Pilgrim, in the Marine Life Refuge and inside the Maritime Learning Center.

Mother's Day Brunch Sail
Age: 4-adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

Treat your Mom to a unique experience while savoring a scrumptious brunch aboard the traditional wooden schooner Spirit of Dana Point. Join the ship's crew in raising canvas, steering the ship and enjoying the beautiful scenery as you sail along the southern California coast.
Mother's Day Afternoon Sail
Age: 4-adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: 2:00pm to 4:30pm

Sail with Mom on the majestic tall ship Spirit of Dana Point. Hoist sail, steer the ship or simply relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon on the water. Light refreshments included.
Father's Day Catch-and-Release Fishing Trip
Age: 8 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: 8:00am to 12:30pm
Hours: 4 1/2 hours

Price: $45/adult; $35/child (Members: $40/adult; $30/child)
Join us for our Father's Day Catch-and-Release Fishing Trip aboard the R/V Sea Explorer. Take your dad on an outdoor adventure he'll never forget! We'll supply the fishing gear and bait. You just need to come and have some fun (fishing license is not required; water, soft drinks and coffee are included)!
Father's Day Marine Wildlife Cruise
Age: 4 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: 1:00pm to 3:30
Hours: 2 1/2 hours

Price: $35/adult and $22/child (Members: $22/adult and $19/child)
Journey to sea with Ocean Institute scientists and they'll introduce you to the local marine wildlife; including an astounding variety of fish, microscopic plankton, and the animals that live in sediment retrieved from the ocean floor. Encounter a pod of playful dolphin or witness the majesty of a traveling whale. Discover the amazing, and sometimes bizarre life that lives just beneath the waves!
Father's Day Treasure Hunt
Age: 4-adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: 10:00am to 1:00pm
Hours: 3 hours
Date: June 21
Price: $45/adult; $35/child (Members: $40/adult; $30/child)
The hunt is on! In search of pirate loot, you and dad will scour the grounds of the Ocean Institute for clues that will lead to a rich sailing quest, full of fun and treasure. Raise sail, steer the ship and enjoy the adventure as you voyage out on the Pacific Ocean aboard the tallship Spirit of Dana Point. Cannons will roar as you come upon the unmarked treasures on the high seas and collect your reward (unless you encounter a pirate or two). This exciting treasure hunt will be an experience you'll never forget!
Father's Day Afternoon Sail
